RoRo

Royal Haskoning have been involved in the planning, design and implementation of over 50 specialist RoRo installations both in the UK and overseas, including the design of the on-shore civil engineering works to support the ramps. The experience of Royal Haskoning includes the design of berthing and fendering facilities, including a number of specialist applications for fast ferry vessels. Royal Haskoning have also been the designers of the overall layouts of a wide range of terminal facilities, including marshalling areas, trailer parks, weighbridges and entrance gate facilities.

Royal Haskoning have considerable experience in the design of port facilities generally and have a deep appreciation of the effects of the navigation and wave climate and the influence that such factors have on the design of the facilities.

This experience has been applied with great effect to permit the design of berths in comparatively exposed locations, thus allowing the use of areas of land, that may in the past have been rejected, as suitable locations for berths. Royal Haskoning have a world class coastal engineering department who have the capabilities and the software to produce wave predictions for a wide range of different sites.

The combination of experience both in the detail design of shore ramps and in the assessment and prediction of loads due to waves, together with a comprehensive understanding of the operational requirements and limitations, makes Royal Haskoning the most versatile designer of RoRo facilities in the world.
