Royal Haskoning - RoRo and Cruise Terminals

Royal Haskoning have also carried out the designs of overall RoRo terminal layouts and layouts for a wide range of facilities, including the optimisation of marshalling areas, trailer parks, weighbridges and entrance gate facilities to obtain the most efficient possible throughput and/or land use.

Royal Haskoning have been involved in the planning, design and implementation of over 50 specialist RoRo installations both in the UK and overseas, including the design of RoRo linkspans, the on-shore civil engineering works and the design or specification of specialist passenger walkways to airport standards in order to transfer passengers safely between ship and shore.

The design experience of Royal Haskoning also covers such issues as the design of berthing and fendering facilities and the design or specification of specialist applications for fast ferry and cruise vessels.

Our experience dates back to 1963 when we planned and engineered the first RoRo terminal at Felixstowe, since when we have become one of the world's most experienced independent designers of ship to shore facilities.

To maintain this enviable position the firm has developed a suite of computer based port planning tools called POSPORT.

Posport is an in-house computer simulation package for the optimisation of vessel movements and port operations and has recently been extended to include the land side operations of RoRo and ferry terminals.
